Q: When was the moment you first knew you were meant to be an entrepreneur?
I knew in my early 20s I had an entrepreneurial flair, and this is when I launched my first start-up business in my hometown of Brisbane, Australia. I learned a lot in those early days and apply that wisdom to this second successful business venture!

Q: What is the biggest challenge you have faced starting your business?
Balancing life as a parent with work. As a small business owner, work is not limited to 9am-5pm on weekdays so it takes discipline to set healthy boundaries and find a balance (which is very much a work in progress).

Q: What is the biggest “win” you have experienced as an entrepreneur?
To start to be recognized locally as the “Aussie painter”. I love being able to contribute to the Guelph community and as a female house painter, carve a name out for myself in an otherwise male-dominated industry.

Q: What is the most important piece of advice you would give to others who are starting their own business?
You really have to LOVE what you do in order to go the hard yards. Dedication and passion will set you on the right path, but you also must set yourself apart from your competitors. Set yourself a clear vision and go for it!

Q: What was the biggest key to your success? How do you measure success?
I know I’ve done my job well when I’ve had clients say “I wish I had more for you to paint, I don’t want you to go!” haha
